Swan – wave modelling

The site survey determines dimensional wind, wave height and current velocity for the location.

Aquastructures performs site surveys according to:
 Norwegian Standard for Marine Fish Farms NS9415
o   A Technical Standard for Scottish Finfish Aquaculture 
o   NYTEK Regulation
o   Icelandic Regulation

The environmental parameters can be determined with e.g. 10- and 50-years return period.

Dimensional wind is calculated from wind standards such as EN 1991-1-4:2005 or similar.

Aquastructures uses the SWAN (Simulating Waves Nearshore) wave calculation program for calculation of wind generated waves and swells. These calculations are based on terrain models of the subsea topography in the areas around the site, as well as wind conditions and swell sea in the cases where this is considered relevant.  We can also use fetch length calculation for determining wind generated waves. 

Dimensional current velocity is calculated from measurements taken at the site.

The site survey forms the basis for a properly dimensioned installation with mooring, nets and pens.
